Xtend Barre La Verne is conveniently located 35 miles east of Los Angeles nestled in the foothills of the San Gabriel – Pomona Valleys. We offer a multi-level, safe, fun and effective class that anyone can join and thrive in. Beginners will quickly find their groove thanks to our dedicated instructors, and advanced clients will also love how Xtend Barre pushes them to the extreme. All ages, sizes and genders are welcome. The Xtend Barre workout is a fast-paced, 55-minute full body immersion that combines the amazing results of dance with the principles of strength and safety in Pilates.

Cara Hipwell - Owner
Cara Hipwell has always enjoyed fitness and an active lifestyle. She grew up singing and dancing in show choirs, and after completing a degree in Animal Sciences she relocated to Southern California with her husband. Together they have four children and as a busy mother and business owner she found that she didn’t have a lot of time for fitness. She began running after her youngest was born, but found that to be hard on her body. In an effort to remain active, Cara discovered Xtend Barre through a friend. She fell in love with the combination of Pilates and cardio, along with the grace of dancing that Xtend Barre offers. After each workout she feels accomplished and enjoys the 55-minutes of an Xtend Barre class where time just flies by and everyone is having fun. She is thrilled to bring Xtend Barre to La Verne!
Jolisa Grimmer - Co-Owner
Jolisa Grimmer is a Southern California native and active mother of 3. At a young age she took tap and ballet and in high school she played soccer, ran cross-country and swam competitively. Jolisa graduated from CSU San Bernardino with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Kinesiology. After her second pregnancy she fell in love with Pilates. A close friend introduced Jolisa to Xtend Barre and immediately she was hooked. It was the amazing results she saw that got her into the studio, and the feeling of empowerment and challenge during and after each class that keeps her going. It is the sparkle in each person’s eyes when the Xtend Barre workout is discussed, discovered and practiced that inspired Jolisa to help bring Xtend Barre to La Verne.
Tahyna - Instructor
Tahyna Tozzi is an Australian Actress and performer who has been living in the United States for the past four years. In between various film and theatre work Tahyna has been building her education about the human body and health practices. Tahyna has trained extensively in martial arts, yoga, Pilates and dance all her life. In an effort to further her education of the body and exercise connection, she discovered Xtend Barre and was hooked!! Tahyna is also a graduate of the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and loves the concept of bio - individuality and changing one’s body through the right exercise and right diet. She looks forward to incorporating all her knowledge with students and clients in a fun and positive way.
Brianna - Instructor
Growing up in Seattle, WA, Brianna has always been involved in team sports and played Division I Fastpitch Softball for Towson University in Towson, Maryland. After college, she joined my first gym and discovered her love for group fitness classes. Not only did she enjoy the workouts of step aerobics, strength training, spinning, yoga and Pilates, but was drawn to working out with other people in a team-like atmosphere. In addition to group fitness classes, she also enjoys endurance sports like running, biking, swimming and triathlons. In 2008, Brianna and her husband moved to Orange County and love being active outdoors year-round. In 2011, after three half marathons, her body and mind needed a break from high-impact exercise and she ventured back into group fitness classes. That summer, she took her first Barre class and was immediately hooked. She was able to get a complete full body workout without any joint pain, and had a lot of fun doing it! Having never done any dance in her life, she liked doing a workout that made her feel graceful and powerful at the same time. After testing out a handful of different Barre classes, she found that Xtend Barre challenged her the most, offered a well-rounded workout with cardio, and transformed her body like never before. A few months later, she decided to put her background in sports performance training to use and, combined with her passion for fitness, became a certified group fitness instructor. She says “It brings me great joy helping others achieve their fitness goals!”
Monique - Instructor
Monique has always enjoyed the beautiful movement of our bodies. She danced for several years and loved every bit of it. She then found something else that made her just as happy; a variety of fitness classes! She has been teaching Yoga for almost ten years and it opened the door to so much more. She was certified in 2004. Starting off her career at various gyms, studios and adult education she found herself very involved with group exercise and in the last decade she has been certified to teach several varieties of group fitness as well as personal training. It was during this time that Monique stumbled across Pilates and couldn’t believe she found something she loved as much or more than Yoga! But it didn’t stop there. She found Xtend Barre! After one class of the energizing, fun and sweaty workout she was hooked. The Xtend Barre training and teaching experience has been wonderful for Monique, and she is excited to share this amazing format of fitness with the community of La Verne.
Elizabeth - Instructor
Elizabeth grew up dancing, starting at the tender age of two and half; she became classically trained in ballet, tap, jazz and contemporary. Her love for dance continued throughout the years as she studied dance at UCSB and stayed involved in the dance industry in Los Angeles. Certified in both yoga and mat Pilates, she has found her niche at Xtend Barre. Xtend Barre gives Elizabeth the workout she craves as it uses dance to make her muscles long and lean, while feeling that great Pilates toning burn! Elizabeth’s infectious zeal and years of experience teaching create a unique and powerful workout every class. Swing by her class so she can get your muscles Xtended!
Rebecca - Instructor
Rebecca is a Rancho Cucamonga native and has been dancing since the age of 6. She has danced ballet professionally since 2008 and has had many performance opportunities. Her serious study of ballet in the Inland Empire and around the country has led to discipline, and interest in overall health, fitness, and wellbeing. She is currently furthering her education and studying nutrition. She found Xtend Barre and instantly fell in love. It is the combination of her two passions, ballet and fitness, and she instantly felt physical results after only a few classes. After teaching ballet for 2 years around the Inland Empire, Rebecca is moving towards the fitness industry and loves teaching Xtend Barre. She is excited to help clients achieve their fitness and health goals with this graceful, high cardio, and low impact workout. She says "I'm so excited to welcome Xtend Barre to La Verne! Desiree - Instructor
Desiree is a La Verne native and an ex-dancer of 20 years. She competed in tap and jazz performing groups through local dance studios as a child and teenager. She was a cheerleader, song leader and dance team member at Bonita High School.....Go Bearcats! Desiree danced as an adult on the Mt. Sac cheer and dance team and eventually danced for 5 years for minor league sports teams. She met the love of her life and gave up dancing to get married and have beautiful twin daughters. Desiree missed the long lean muscles dancing gave her and was introduced to Pilates. She loved the core strength and flow of movement so much she decided to teach it. Desiree went through extensive training thru Marie Jose Bloom and her Master trainers Kendall Pink and Alicia Head thru the Long Beach Dance Company. While teaching reformer Pilates, Desiree discovered Xtend Barre and found her two loves ~ dance & Pilates. She is thrilled to be teaching Xtend Barre in her home town and can't wait to meet you at the Barre!
Brittni - Instructor
Brittni recently moved to the Los Angeles area with her husband, baby and puppy. She has nine years experience in competitive and high school cheerleading, as well as playing softball and soccer throughout middle and high school. After having her daughter, she discovered Xtend Barre in Salt Lake City and was immediately addicted and taking classes daily. After more than a year of Xtend Barre classes and seeing almost immediate results, she decided she wanted to help others reach their fitness goals. In addition to Xtend Barre she also enjoys jogging, watching basketball (Go Celtics!), music and being outdoors. She can't wait to share her passion for Xtend Barre with you!
Tanya - Instructor
Throughout the years, Tanya has been very involved in sports including: soccer, karate, dance (tap, ballet, jazz, and hip hop), cheer, and other outdoor activities. Tanya’s active life style and the injuries that accompanied it sparked her interest in the human body and movement. In 2007, she graduated from California State University, Northridge with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. As an undergraduate at the universities’ fitness center, she promoted body awareness and injury prevention as well as designing individual program designs for students and faculty. She later became fascinated with the mind body connection and how your body affects your mind just as much as your mind affects your body. So, in 2009 she continued her education within the field of Kinesiology and graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a Master’s degree in Kinesiology with a focus in sport psychology. Today, she still continues to expand her knowledge in the sport and health industry through the Xtend Barre Mat Pilates and instructor training, an extensive reformer Pilates training, studied under Marie Jose Bloom and her master trainers Kendel Pink and Alicia Head thorough LBDC, and obtaining an indoor cycling certification. Tanya strives to live a healthy and active lifestyle and enjoys Pilates, yoga, swimming, hiking, indoor cycling, and of course the Xtend Barre workout. Tanya is thrilled to be sharing her knowledge of fitness and helping others achieve their fitness goals and finding their own strength and beauty within.
Aimee - Instructor
Aimee is a La Verne resident originally from Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is a passionate advocate for the arts, especially music and dance. Her dance background includes ballet, hip hop, tap, figure skating, gymnastics, and cheerleading. She is also a dance and musical theater choreographer and a Zumba® Fitness instructor. Aimee performs regularly in theater productions in the LA and Pasadena area and loves to sing, act, and dance on stage. She has a Masters in Music Education from Azusa Pacific University and is the strings and orchestra director at Foothill Christian School in Glendora, as well as a private violin instructor. Aimee's music, dance, and fitness backgrounds make Xtend Barre a perfect fit for her, and she is thankful to have the opportunity to teach at Xtend Barre La Verne!
Candice - Instructor
Candice is a Southern California native, mother, and wife. Other than loving on her husband and son, one of her greatest passions is helping women live life to their fullest potential. She has spoken at various events, mentored young girls, and volunteered at various non-profits. All in the name of building women up. Fitness has always been a part of her life and throughout the process of a back injury she noticed fitness played a key role in how she viewed herself. Not because of the way her body was shaped but because of the way her spirit was fed when she was active. Over time, she discovered this to be true for many women. Thus, beginning her journey into the fitness industry to help others live life to the fullest in a new way. Xtend Barre was a perfect fit! It is low impact, challenging, has cardio in it, and is ever changing! She was thrilled and immediately wanted to instruct. "I am so excited to be teaching at Xtend Barre La Verne! It is my belief that all women are created unique and beautiful and it is my pleasure to be a part of their fitness journey. Whether you are a stay at home mom or a full time working mom.
